service is optional.
6.3 Students, who are already registered in the bus service and would like to withdraw,
should inform in writing the transport service department prior to July 30. Subsequent to
that date, they will be considered as registered and must settle the first semester
subscription fee.
6.4 Buses follow fixed itineraries and schedules since the beginning of the school year.
Parents will be informed on time about the bus' number that will transport their child (ren).
6.5 Students that are subscribed to this service are picked up from home or a nearby
location. Nevertheless, and due to traffic requirements or bad roads' conditions, students
might be grouped and picked up collectively at preset " meeting points " in order to
activate the circulation.
6.6 Parents are urged to have an adult waiting to pick up the child (ren) on time.
6.7 School bus riders are not allowed to change their usual bus without the administration's
authorization. Lack of discipline in the bus can lead to exclusion from the school's
transportation service, from one or several days, to permanent expulsion.
6.8 Bus riders must present a note duly signed by their parents, before being authorized by
persons in charge or supervisors to leave school by private means, or to get off the bus
at a different station than their regular one.
7 - Sanctions
7.1 The teacher is entitled to require from an undisciplined or negligent student, oral or
written work that shall constitute an additional homework followed personally by the
teacher.
The teacher must consent with the department's head about the sanction and the modality of
its application.

parents.

that is beyond the teacher or the supervisor's attributions, the department's head must be
informed in order to take adequate measures.
7.4 The department's head notifies the student's parents of any discipline infringement or
regular negligence in his/her work, by means of a warning notice that must be signed by
parents and returned to the administration the next school day.
7.5 Whenever the above-mentioned measures prove to be vain, the director is entitled to
expel from school a student for one or three days. Access to school grounds is prohibited
for students during their expulsion.
7.6 Only the Section's Disciplinary Committee has the authority to determine whether to
expel a student for more than three days or permanently. The endorsement of the Father
Director is obligatory for the permanent expulsion.
Saturday's Work
Saturday's work is a mitigated sanction's form that is administered following a discipline
infringement, and at the same time, it pushes the student to complete unfinished assignments.
Concerned students will be asked to come to school on Saturday mornings.
8 - Civil Responsibilities
8.1 The school's civil responsibility does not extend beyond the school borders, except for
bus riders. The A.I.S. civil responsibility ceases from the moment the student leaves the
bus on his way back home. For incidents occurring outside the school, the
Administration holds the right to take measures deemed appropriate.
8.2 For a student to be able to communicate with persons from outside the school regardless
of their degree of acquaintance or relationship during his/her presence in the institution,
an authorization from the supervisor or the department's head is necessary. To leave
school before scheduled time, students must submit a request to the Administration and
get a prior authorization before leaving the premises. In all cases, parents are informed of
their child's departure.
8.3 The school is responsible for students during outdoor activities and excursions.
Consequently, a memo related to this effect will be sent each time to the parents of
participating students. All excursions or organized outdoors activities that are organized
out of the school scheduled time, and which are not preceded by a memo duly signed by
the Director, are not placed under the school's responsibility.
9 - Parents - School correspondence
9.1 The student's diary serves as a correspondence means between the student's parents
and the school.
9.2 For inquiring about the studies and students' discipline, parents should address their
questions to the departments' heads. Parents wishing to convene with teachers in order
to discuss their child (ren)'s issues, should contact the departments' heads. A conference
will be arranged according to the calendar that will be distributed at the beginning of the
school year taking into consideration the teachers' time availability.
9.3 The A.I.S. official website is: www.ais.edu.lb, and through this site correspondence via email
is provided: ais@ais.edu.lb.
9.4 At the end of each academic year, our magazine " AVIS " is distributed to all our
community members. This magazine is our " Yearbook " where all the memorable
events and our community's pictures are documented.
10 - Special arrangements
10.1 Students should only carry books and publications adopted by the school. Magazines,
newspapers, radio-cassettes, CD players, etc… cannot be introduced without a special
authorization issued by the department's head. Breaching this rule shall always be
considered as a serious infringement to discipline and might lead to expulsion.
10.2 All publications' distribution or selling and all posting in school cannot take place without
the Administration's prior authorization.
10.3 Students must not carry big amounts of money or valuable items. The school is not
responsible for any loss or theft. Parents are encouraged not to give their child(ren) more
money than necessary.
10.4 During sports' competitions or events, no student will be allowed to wear the colors of
another school or the signs of any Sports Club.
10.5 Parents who ask the school's teachers to give private tutoring to their chil(ren), should
inform the Administration in order to get prior authorization. Grade levels' teachers are
not permitted to teach their own students.
10.6 Students should not carry cell phones with them at school.

prohibited.

are classified as confidential and will only be accessible to the school's Administration.
11.2 After school pick-up/authorization: Children who do not use the school buses for
transportation are allowed to leave the school only with their parents, unless stated
otherwise by their parents in a written note. No child will be released to a person not
authorized to pick him/her up by the parents and the Director. It is the parents'
responsibility to inform the school of any changes in the names of authorized persons.
The staff in charge will request identification papers from any person other than the
parents to release the child(ren).
11.3 Holidays: The school abides by the public and religious holidays' calendar set by the
government. This calendar is included in the diary's first pages.
Health Policy: For hygienic and health purposes, the school established a special policy that
requires parents' adherence and participation.
1. An immunization record must be on file and reported to the Administration whenever
changes occur. At the beginning of the school year, a complete health information form
should be filled-in and sent back to the school's health department by the parents.
2. Children will be observed upon arrival to school and will not be permitted to stay if they
show any signs of illness, these include: fever, eye infection (red eye), nausea, diarrhea,
head lice, skin problems, or any transmissible disease such as chicken pox, measles etc.
3. A medical report is required after three consecutive days of absence or following any
infection.
4. If a child becomes ill at school, he/she is checked by our school nurse who will contact
the parents, should he/she need to be picked-up.
11.4 Medication: Medication can be given by the school's nurse if prescribed by a doctor and
signed by the parents with explicit instructions as to dosage and time. If the doctor
recommends a high dosage medication, a signed note from the parent must accompany
the medication. If the medication is in a liquid form, please place the bottle in a plastic
bag; label the bag with your child's name and time/dosage of the medication. If your
child needs medication for a potentially serious condition such as asthma or diabetes,
kindly notify the department's head and discuss the matter with her.
11.5 Accidents: If minor accidents occur at school, the school nurse will provide adequate
treatment for children (cuts and scratches). If a more serious accident takes place,
parents are immediately notified and the school seeks emergency care on sight. Accident
reports are written by the school's Insurance Company and a copy will be sent to parents.
Emergencies are treated at the "St. Georges Hospital" in Ajaltoun.
12 - Insurance - medical & social service- School counselling
12.1 All students benefit, throughout the scholastic year, from an accidents' insurance coverage
which shall cover their stay at school as well as during all outdoors activities organized by
the institution.
12.2 School physicians examine each student at the beginning of the school year. They can be
consulted whenever needed. Parents may get in touch with them concerning their child
(ren) only by prior appointment.
12.3 Besides, a social and school counseling department receives students and parents who
would like to discuss any problem related to their studies within office hours.
12.4 When registration formalities take place, each student must present a medical certificate
delivered by the family physician. This certificate will be kept as a reference, in order to
give the student, whenever needed, the necessary care, and eventually, exempt him/her
from sports activities.
13 - Teachers' committee
Elected for a one-year term, in accordance with the applied law, it represents the whole
teaching staff. The teacher's committee coordinates with the Administration in order to achieve
